I have been going back and forth on this topic for quite some time and I cant come to a conclusion. Do you guys think I should paint my rifle? I have a KWA M4 CQB. I have painted some of my other weapons in the past, However I am torn on this one.
yeah i get the same feelings some times, three things that help me decide, my warranty is up, i need it camouflaged or the original paint is all scratched and could use a new coat. mostly, is painting your rifle going to give you a competitive edge is what it comes down to.
Here is the question, do you intend to keep this weapon for the whole period of its working life or sell it at some point in the future?
Also, do you use it as a multi role platform? or does it have a specific environment/role that it will only be used in.
I've seen people paint weapons and do an excellent job until that weapon goes with them into a different environment and it stands out like a sore thumb, Also painting a Airsoft weapon drops the resell value by at least 15 dollars.
What!? you say no way right.. Yes. People often beleive that painting a weapon should increase its value when on the contrary it degrades it. Think of it this way. Your Airsoft weapon is like a car. Brand new all shinny it has no nicks cuts scratches, trade marks are present if at all on the weapon.. Then you scratch it etc. and decide to paint it. You do the paint job it looks great and you did it just because you wanted to not to hide anything. But in then you decide to resell it.. and people see its painted and go "Hmmm... wonder whats hidden under that paint".
Now not all ways the case, but it has been pointed out by multiple sources that a Painted Airsoft weapon is actually worth less in a resale then an unpainted scratched body.
So I would think about the above two questions, ponder them a good while then decide. Me personally I consider my weapons the same as when I was in the Corps. I didnt Paint My SAW then. Why would I do it now. If the Corps had intended me to paint it they would have taught me finger painting!
See thats my problem. Its an M4 CQB. Perfect size and FPS for MOUT. However, It also has an amazing range for its size and I use it in woodland environments aswell. That is the main reason why I am broken over it.
