So I've been away from the site (and the sport for that matter) for a little while now... so sue me.
I have up and moved from my home sweet home of Manhattan, KS to Kansas City, MO. I assumed finding a game every weekend (and a job) would be fairly simple but I was wrong. Here in Kansas City, there are probably enough players to get a huge team together every weekend... but there isn't one for some reason. Of course, back in Manhattan sometimes the KSUAT games would get a little thin... but 90% of the time there was a healthy turnout.
The games here in Kansas City kind of sputter together at random times and if your like me and have stuff to do some weekends it's a little difficult to keep heavily active. Let me give you all a run down
I got off of my night shift job early this month, and there was a game that weekend with KCAC. BUT I had to get back to Manhattan that weekend
so
August 9th - Couldn't make it
August 15th - National Guard drill weekend... couldn't make the game
August 22nd - no game apparently
August 29th - no game apparently
Sept 5-6th - there is some training event with MILES gear... been there... done that... miles gear blows.
Sept 12th - Drill weekend again
Looking further out... operation Flatline is on a drill weekend as well as KCAA's operation Black Sun (in November and October)
So I have a question for you all.... what the hell? Surely in this town there is enough people to hold a large game every weekend... but apparently the team leaders here don't think so. Well I've got a solution (I do hate when people complain about stuff without a solution). GET RID OF ALL THESE SEPARATE TEAMS AND MAKE A SINGLE KANSAS CITY TEAM. Making a big asp Kansas City team would have many benefits. We would be able to have a big game every week. We would pool together all the talent, repair skills, contacts for land to play on, equipment reviews, extraordinary recruiting power etc etc etc.
I really don't understand why team leaders hold back their comrades by keeping their team independent. I mean, is there really that much of a lust for power that they won't give it up to have one of the largest teams in the country? Well I have news for all of you... In the real army, excluding probably like the top 2% of the leadership, guess how many soldiers you can be in charge of. 100? 1000? 2000? WRONG The army is designed so any soldier can only be in charge of 3-5 other soldiers. Let me illistrate..
My Sergent Major is in charge of 5 first sergeants
my first sergeant is in charge of 4 platoon sergeants
my platoon sergeant is in charge of 3 squad leaders
my squad leader is in charge of 2 sergeants
and my sergeant is in charge of me
People who get a hard on for leadership are almost always guilty of MICRO MANAGING. Trust me I have dealt with more than my fair share of it.
So do you feel like your area is going through the same thing? Put petty differences aside and unite teams.
