The #1 Online Comunity for Airsoft Teams

I know this might seem like an oxymoron, seeing that the point of our sport/hobby is to "shoot" at one another, but one of the most common things I see at airsoft games is a lack of gun safety.

Gun safety should be taught to everyone, including airsofters, because correct safety measures are critical. Learning gun safety with an airsoft toy gun ensures knowledge and apply to apply safety rules to live fire weapons. (I can't tell you how many times I've been muzzle swept by an airsofter holding a real weapon.)

I have taken the liberty to adapt the standard safety protocols for airsoft. Please use them yourself, and demand that others use them at your field. A safe field is in everyone's best interest.

During simulated combat, an airsofter must react quickly, safely, and be mentally prepared to engage targets. To ensure that only the intended target is engaged, an airsofter must apply the following safety rules at all times:

Rule 1 - Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
When an airsofter takes charge of a rifle in any situation, he must treat the weapon as if it were loaded, determine its condition, and continue applying the other safety rules.

Rule 2 - Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
An airsofter must maintain muzzle awareness at all times.

Rule 3 - Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
A target must be identified before taking the weapon off safe and moving the finger to
the trigger.

Rule 4 - Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
A target must be identified before taking the weapon off safe. This rule is intended to eliminate the chance of the weapon discharging by accident (e.g., brush snagging the trigger).

Rifle Weapon Conditions

A weapon’s readiness is described by one of two conditions. Condition 2 through 4 apply to GBB Rifles only.

Condition 1 - Safety on, battery connected, loaded magazine inserted, ejection port cover closed.
Condition 2 - Safety on, GBB magazine inserted, round in chamber, bolt forward, ejection port cover closed.
Condition 3 - Safety on, GBB magazine inserted, chamber empty, bolt forward, ejection port cover closed.
Condition 4 - Safety on, GBB magazine removed, chamber empty, bolt forward, ejection port cover closed.
Condition 5 - Safety on, battery disconnected, magazine removed, ejection port cover closed.

(GBB) Pistol - Weapons Conditions

The M9 service pistol’s level of readiness is de-fined by three specific conditions. The steps in the loading and unloading process take the pistol through the specific conditions that indicate the pistol’s readiness for live fire. An airsofter must understand and know the condition of his pistol at all times.

Condition 1 - Magazine inserted, round in chamber, slide forward, and safety on.
Condition 2 - Magazine inserted, chamber empty, slide forward, and safety on.
Condition 3 - Magazine removed, chamber empty, slide forward, and safety on.
