Well I overcharged my battery again... So I figured it's probably time for a new one and a smart charger... While I'm at it I thought I would get some ammo as well. So Monday afternoon I drove across town to BB Airsoft In Overland Park... and they are closed, the place is cleaned out and there was some painting stuff inside... I kinda thought the place was pretty nice when I was in there before, why would they clear everything out to re-paint the whole place?
After getting back home for the day I decided to call BB airsoft's HQ in Wichita. Turns out they had to close down the store permanently.
This was pretty irritating to me, considering I always try to use local stores for all my airsoft needs, and now we had just lost one. BUT, all hope was not lost. I needed to make a trip back to Manhattan anyway. Why not just go back to the Xtreme airsoft store there? To make a long story short, they had to close too...
I'm not going to get into details... but I've seen lots of people continue to shop for stuff online even though the local stores can meet their needs. Airsoft is an extremely equipment dependant sport, and local stores fill the gap needed to take our hobby into the mainstream. At xtreme airsoft in Manhattan I noticed a common scenario would be a young player coming in completely frustrated with his low quality gun and being completely amazed after holding a classic army or TM gun.
Also I personally never could have upgraded my M14 without their help. There was a lot of trial and error on what fits and what doesn't fit into the version 7 gearbox and if I didn't have their support I don't know if I would have even been able to get the gearbox put back together.
So guys, please support your local airsoft stores... I don't have enough money to do it myself.
