i just bought a JG SR16 chronoed by airsoftgi.com at 360fps out of the box with .20s and i also have a UTG m14 that i turned into an m21 counter sniper weapon which is shooting around 450fps wit .23s it has a reinforced gearbox steel gears and shimmings a reinforced piston and a m120 springs the only problem is that i need a better motor for her i name my guns and my m21 is darlene and my sr16 is michelle not that u care lol but i also have for my sr16 an aimpoint which looks sexy on my sr16
I have a JG m-4 s-system and a CA AUG that I just bought. JGs are some of the best guns out of the box at a reasonable price. Mine was chronoed before it was shipped to me at 355 with .20s. I would start with a JG or Echo 1 (m-4/16 and G36 made by JG) unless you have plenty of disposible income. Then I recommend CA or G&G. You can always upgrade later. Remember you still have to buy clothes, tactical gear, etc
Things to look for when picking gun:
-FPS - how hard and far bbs are shot (can be upgraded with new spring)
-Barrel length and diameter - the longer the barrel the more accurate(why I wanted the AUG, bullpup design, longer barrel compact size), some guns like G&Gs come with tightbore barrels, more accurate
-metal parts - internal and external, metal gearbox, some echo1s and JGs now come with metal bushings , metal bodies are more durable and realistic
-build quality - higher end guns are going to have better build quality and use better meterials
Hi there, I would say that the guy below me has given you some good advice. JG/Echo-1 are great guns to start out with, shoot hard, are reliable, and barely need upgrading (some of the AK's shoot over 400fps stock.

First i would say evaluate yourself and decide what it is you want to do. Then pick a style of weapon that lends itself to that style. As for brands, Echo1 and JG make good starter guns, they are not the top of the line guns but are great if your on a budget, or if your just getting started. They usually come equiped with a battery and charger too. If youve got the money to spend and want a better quality gun, you can look into G&P, Classic Army, and Tokyo Marui, these are your top of the line guns, and usually come with a higher price, but for the most part are reliable, and worth the money. Its also good to take note that while sniper positions are great in airsoft, getting equiped as one can be expensive. Most snipers ive met or talked with have sunk a lot of money ($800+) into the rifle to get the effective range and power they want. My advice start off with a good quality AEG, and move forward from there.
