What is Venom Mercenaries? Venom is an Airsoft Mercenary unit based out of Chicago, Illinois

We are active in the Chicago Airsoft scene and compete in many of the local, regional, and national Airsoft events.

What are Mercenaries?

A Mercenary is a soldier who fights for money, usually regardless of ideological, national or political considerations.

A Mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict who is not a national of a Party to the conflict and "is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party".

In the Airsoft world a Mercenary (or Merc for short) is neither the good guy or the bad guy. We are the wild card in the scenario, Working for who ever gives us the biggest contract.

This gives Venom the unique ability to be able to be easily written into scenarios created by other teams or involving many teams. As elements of a mercenary company, we can easily attach ourselves to either the 'good guys' or the 'bad guys' as the scenario-creator sees fit. In addition, the idea of a 'mercenary' unit provides a reasonable explanation for the variety of Airsoft gear and equipment that our members may possess.
