The #1 Online Comunity for Airsoft Teams

I recently joined the Facestalkers PA team and I am the only female member of my team. I love it and I feel like, in time, I could really be good at it. However, I have noticed differing opinions on Women in Airsoft.

On my team and the other branches of my team, I'm really, really supported and taken care of. I remember the day I met them and the first thing they said... "You play?" It wasn't meant in a negative way and they followed it up with a "THAT'S AWESOME!" I barely know some of my team, but I love them already.

I'm curious, how other people feel about Women in Airsoft. I've heard a couple times that "WOMEN DON'T SERVE IN COMBAT" and Airsoft is a Military Simulation and do we really belong?

My sister is serving in the ARMY as I type and I know the trials and tribulations she has to face as a woman in the army. However, I know it's not as bad as it used to be. I wonder if there are going to be trials I have to face too, because I've already felt a little bit of negative feedback.

In a recent game, a member of the other team was really negative and well just rude and sexist. He sat there and made jokes about women and attacked me, saying that I couldn't shoot anything or something like that. It just really made me angry and I'm curious if I'll be continuously dealing with this. I just want to mentally prepare myself for it.

Negative feedback is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so please speak your mind...

Thanks,
SGT Cougar

well i have actually played with women in the field when it comes to airsoft...... some of them... not all of them definately are not cut out to play.... but there are others that give some of the better players a run for their money

I definately think that women are welcomed into airsoft. (well, on my team) I see no reason to say that women cannot shoot and such. If you are interested... Then have at it! Don't listen to the negativity but pay very close attention to advice. Women can be just as good or better than airsoft than men. This is a very sensitve issue, but I'm glad you brought it up. If you need anything, just ask. I'll be happy ro attempt to help! Remeber, Honor is Everything!

Thanks for the response. I definately take all of my team-members' advice very, very seriously. Especially, considering the fact that they've been playing so much longer than I have. My boyfriend is actually the one who got me into Airsoft. I didn't think I'd like it, but he begged me to play and said it would help us bond and stuff like that. So I tried it and had a wonderful time. I don't see myself stopping annytime soon, either.

There is no reason for you to stop. It sounds like you have fun, and are serious about it. Plus, it provides another common ground for you and your boyfriend. Just remember to have fun. Remember, Honor is Everything!

As a reply to "Damn it get down".. There are also hordes of males players who are not cut out to play. The reason women are not allowed in combat MOSes is primarily hygienic. A woman in the field, with no way of decent sanitation will eventually start having health issues. You don't have that issue in an airsoft event. If a team looks down on you because of your gender, it's time to find a new team.

Thanks for the response... I understand the reason women are not allowed in combat and I do agree with the hygiene issue. I'm a medical student and it is a proven fact that a male's body is more tolerant to some bacterias and just overall uncleanliness. However, there are special cases.

My team doesn't look down on me at all. Just the occasional opposing team member.

Well, I've personally not experienced many women playing, but for two occasions have they been there: ONE: She filled in at a practice, and she didn't know what she was doing, and did a damn good job.

TWO: A girlfriend at a game, and she didn't play, but took pictures, and because of her being in my line of fire, I didn't shoot, but the other guy did. (But she didn't play so she didn't count)

I've seen no reason to keep women out of airsoft, but there are always that one that spoils someone's opinion. (Like the camera girl, who could give someone a negative view towards girls in airsoft all together)

So, in my opinion, let 'em play. It's just another player, but if you have something negative, then think if it is towards all female players, or just a bad situation.

Thanks for your response... I'm really trying to think positive and my teams really helping out. These responses are great too. It's really nice to get these opinions, because it makes me realize that it's just one guy and he's an idiot.

Though that was one guy, there are more of them out there. As a woman airsofter, you will face alot of these. Be happy that ypou have a team that supports you though, as that is all that counts.

Other team members giving you crap? Take it in a positive light, because it makes whooping them in a match all the more satisfying!
