The #1 Online Comunity for Airsoft Teams

There you are, dug in your position, watching an enemy patrol walking cluelessly into your well-planned ambush. You sit in wait, until the very second you can see the whites of their eyes...you take a breath, and unleash a barrage of little white BBs up and down his torso. You hear them hit his clothes and gear, *THWAP THWAP THWAP*, that all-too-familiar sound of plastic impacting your target.

He takes a dive, and you take your attention to the next target, until *POW*...the same guy you just shot out turns around and shoots you in the forehead.

What happened, you ask? It sounds like you've encountered a cheater. One of the worst players the the game of Airsoft can offer.

Now, its all happened to us at least once. You sling a burst out of your AEG right in someones direction, and you just -know- you hit him. Sometimes you may have, sometimes maybe not, but you may never know unless the player you just shot at is an honest one or not.

Yes, sometimes you may not feel BBs impact...it happens...but there are people out there who knowingly and willingly cheat at the sport, just to make themselves look better.

I ask any potential cheater reading this, why do you do it? You know you've been hit, so why dont you call it? Are you embarassed? Do you think theres no way he/she could have hit you at that distance? Do you think that it makes you look like a better player, and in turn, more feared on the field? You may be able to get away with it a few times, but eventually, it will catch up to you. You know deep down that you got hit...so no matter what, you didnt really win that match. Even if you get hit, then you go and take out 10 players on the other team, you still didnt TRUELY win. Maybe, instead of cheating, you put that red rag on your head, walk off the field, self-evaluate and learn from your lesson. Cheating doesnt take skill, and quite frankly, its sad that someone would have to do it to make themselves look like a better player.

At our field, SOG has a "no tolerance" policy on cheating. You get caught once, you get a warning. You get caught again, you're never coming back. We go out there to have a good time, make friends, bring new people to the sport, and have fun. Just 1 cheater can ruin the experience for more than 1 player, and might deter newer players from pursuing airsoft as an active hobby they'd like to take up. I know my team will call themselves out, even if they think the shot was questionable. Its not real life, so there will always be another game to better yourself afterwards!

One of the top reasons some people refuse to even TRY airsoft is the fact that its extremely easy to cheat at it. But if you have honest players with good attitudes, people have a great experience, and they'll want to come back. That, in turn, puts the sport in a better light, and that means bigger games.

We want our sport to GROW, not deteriorate from the inside out. So I urge everyone to play honest, play fair, and get new people interested in our beloved hobby. Show them a good time, show them what our sport is really all about: Teamwork, Fun, and INTEGRITY.

I completely agree with you. Cheating should never be condoned. Our team isn't as "no tolerance" as SOG, but we do believe that, "even if you cheat, we're not going to". Some members of our team have been on the end of some of the most blatant, out-right cheating and we've had to call games because of it. It ruined our day and made a lot of people incredibly angry. We we're finally starting to get somewhere in the match and then, BAM!, we had to call the game because of a cheater. Not only does it just outright suck and ruin peoples' days, but it also ruins team relations.

People need to take pride in this sport and play it the right way. Don't let it turn into paintball.

Well said! The no tolerance is a important factor in dealing with cheaters.

If you let one cheater get away with cheating one time, you might as well let all of them.

We have a very strict no tolerance policy due to the small nature of our airsoft community here in Wyoming. You cheat your done. No one will let you play with them in Wyoming.

To date we have never had any serious issues with cheating. and I hope to keep it that way.

Again great write up!

Semper Fi and Carry on!

Yes, we make it perfectly clear that we wont hesitate to give you the boot if you're caught cheating. That goes for SOG Team Members as well. We dont want someone on our team if they are a cheater, because we dont want anyone to ruin our image.

We had an incident where 6 different players had to say something about a particular guest at our field. We even gathered everyone up during our lunch break and said that we do not tolerate cheaters on our field. I PMed the person on our forums who brought him out and told him that if he's going to continue that behavior, he isnt welcome out to our field.

Its disrespectful. Our field is invite-only because we want to know exactly what kind of people are coming out to play with us. If we invite you out, we expect you to play by the rules so you dont ruin everyones fun. Theres really no point in it. But you know, there will always be at least one amongst the crowds...but we try our best to sort them out before they can cause problems.

Semper Fi!

i agree and have encounterd the same thing. but when it happens to me i just call my out and then when i get my respawn or in the next game, and i encounter that person again i LIGHT THEM UP! and make shore they know, feel, and call them self out.cuz i really don't like those players that cheat. and when im shot at and i hear that nouise even if i dont feel it and im not shur if i was hit i call my self out. cuz really its just a game and if u like it gust make shur to avoid or to target those players even if it meens a fire team to shot at him from a concield position...but cheating cuz some one else did it is just wrong period.

It sounds like great minds think alike, or in this case, serious Airsoft players think alike! The fact that someone has to be so immature that they cannot accept when they are bested, does leave a mark that doesn't fade away like small welts from an AEG or beastly Gas Rifle. It's a bit disheartening to know that after you play an honest game and do your best to call your hits, some punk decided to make himself look a little better by not calling out his hits. It's very true that Airsoft lacks in ways that we can truly prove that we hit people (unless you are lucky and you leave a nice little mark), but the game is funner than any paintball match you could conjure up with those silly looking weapons. When you have a large group of friends who you know are honest and fun people, those are the best times you can have. With that, I say this... Thank you for finally saying what has been on quite a few of our minds.
