The following video is part 4 of a 4 part review of the R85A1 (fast forward to ~2:20 to see the blowback action). I have added all 4 parts of this in depth review in the video section. We are looking forward to hearing some feedback from our members on what they think of this gun.
Wow, these cheaper guns are really getting into quality. Also, note that it complies with the FPS limit for the UK (338 FPS I think) the country of the real steel origin. Good gun, makes me want to do a 28 Days Later type game.
We are the Coldstream Guards Airsoft Team, the Army Armament L85 is the standard rifle of the unit. Most of us do not put the battery into the forestock. We mount the battery into a SUSAT cover on the side of the receiver which gives quick access and does not detract from the appearance of the weapon. The FPS is somewhat low being around 340 to 350 but the weapons accurracy is one of the best I have ever used. Mag feed rarely has any trouble and the ability to easily field strip the weapon to fix jams or other problems is worth its weight in gold. Many of our unit live in England and are former British Military, they also give high praise for the AA L85. For the price, being around $160 it is one of the best deals on the airsoft market. It has almost real weight and all metal except where plastic is supposed to be, the rubber butt plate is also great. The weapon is strong and sound. Our unit is happy with the Army Armament version.
