Alright guys, first i would just like to say thanks on behalf of the Bristol Airsoft League for coming out. The response and the turnout was phenomenal. Today marks the largest game held in the Tri-Cities to date that any of us are aware of. We had 79 players turn out for the game today. At one point there were over 60 on the field at a time. We would again like to thank TAS for having us, and allowing us to use their facilities. Big thanks to our sponsors, Airsocom.com and WarGames, and the crew from ZeroHour for coming out and helping officiate the games. Most of all we would like to thank you the players who came out, without you this wouldnt have been possible. You guys made all the effort we put in to the planning of this worthwhile.
Please let us know what you thought of the field, the game, the scenarios, etc. The guys at TAS have already shown major interest and have discussed doing more airsoft on their field in the near future. The would like some feedback on the what you guys thought of the field, and we the BALers are asking for feedback on the game itself, so please share your thoughts.
Thanks again for the huge turnout, and we hope everyone (or at least almost everyone) had a great day.
We would also like to thank the teams that came out for play today, Team Heat and its sub forces, Team Yakuza, ITC, TaskForceJC, Cerebus, RATS, and any one i might be forgetting, along with all the small groups and individuals that made it out. We have some other pics coming that one of our other guys took including the group shot of Team Heat. Bear with us a few and we will get it up asap.
I could have in no way done this game alone, and i wasnt doing it alone. Niji, Trucido of Vir, Che and the rest of the team im a proud part of were as just as much a part of getting this thing together. Consider it a group effort on a lot of peoples parts.
Make sure you thank SabaDoc, and the guys from ZeroHour as well. These guys were instrumental in organization, and todays game play.
Also want to say that the BALers has never been an individual group, consider all yourselves part of the BALers. That what this is an organization of airsoft players.
To get into a little more detail about the game. We began early on Saturday and were on the field ready to process entrants a little after 8am. By 930 when we began the game briefing, we already had 40 players there. The gaming began with some fairly quick, timed deathmatch games just to allow the players to get used to the field as this was the first time 95% of them had ever seen it. We tried new things with medics this time out as well. Our medic carried a satchel containing 10 pieces of rope with a knot on each end. When he approached a wounded player, he had to untie both knots on the rope, and retie the rope to the wounded players arm. Added some realism as the medic had to tend to his patient for a minute or so. We also played several scenario games including a VIP escort, and anthrax case game, and a nuclear suitcase, along with several bomb games. One of the local players, Doc, provided many of his props for us to use, including his simulation dynamite bomb that emits smoke and an alarm when detonated. He is actually working on several new prototypes one of a plunger bomb (t-handle plunger like in the cowboy movies) and also a bomb that will require you to defuse it by removing wires, pull the wrong one, and the alarm sounds signaling detonation. I will try and get some pics of the props at the next event, including another groups bomb that looks so real it actually scared me the first time i saw it, along with the suicide bomber vest im currently constructing, and our cannons. More to come on soon!
